On-line M.A. in Criminal Justice

The Department of Criminal Justice now offers an on-line M.A. in Criminal Justice. For more information, see On-line M.A.

Career Day

Each spring, the Criminal Justice Department has its annual Career Day with approximately 40 criminal justice agencies participating including local, state, and federal agencies. The Career Day provides students an excellent opportunity to plan their careers, develop an understanding of agency hiring practices, and develop a list of potential employers. The department attempts to assist students with career placement. The next career day is scheduled March 9, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

New Faculty

The department recently added two new faculty members. They are Jacinta Gau and Janine Kremling.

Dr. Gau received her doctorate from Washington State University. Her dissertation involved examining the impact of policing disorder on crime rates. She has also conducted research on attitudes toward the death penalty, workplace violence, perceptions of crime, gender issues and criminal justice, and legal issues. She teaches statistics, criminal procedure, and corrections courses.

Dr. Kremling received her doctorate from the University of South Florida. Her dissertation examined drug usage by inmates, the death penalty, criminal sentencing, and victims in capital murder cases. Her teaching interests include comparative criminal justice, corrections, drug and alcohol usage, and legal issues in criminal justice.
